AI for Tutoring and Teaching

I’ve been busy burnt out. Anyone who asks “how are you doing?” or “what are you up to?” has heard some of it. No one has heard all of it. There’s too much to sum it all up- just know that there is a LOT going on. So, as any busy burnt out millennial does, I have started to use AI for tutoring to save time (and have some fun).

Are you old enough to remember SmarterChild on AIM? (AOL Instant Messenger) I used to have full conversations with it in middle school, so I didn’t feel much dread about the new AI- I’ve been using it for years. All of the computer programs have all of my information anyway. 🤷‍♀️

Instead of Googling Word Lists, or spending $$$ on Teachers Pay Teachers, I have started to use chat.openai.com and it has been SUCH a time saver! It doesn’t always give the best results, and sometimes you have to dig a little deeper than originally planned, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY easier than staring at a blank screen with that blinking cursor waiting to type blaming myself for my burnout.

One of the other things I have outsourced to ai? My captions! I have to share certain posts with specific words by a set date. Sometimes I have nothing exciting to say about a pillow or a seat cushion so I search for help. This morning, I asked AI to write a poem about how I use this seat cushion on my old desk chair from my Grandma and I cried. Some parts of it were laughable, but this ending was so sweet, I decided to write a whole blog post about it instead of just a caption on Instagram. 😂

Oh, grandma’s old chair, you’re a treasure to me,
A link to the past, a love that’s still free.
In your gentle embrace, my heart finds its way,
To a time when my grandma’s love held sway.

So, here you remain, in the corner you rest,
A symbol of love, of memories, the best.
In my heart, you’ll always have a special place,
My dearest old desk chair, from grandma’s warm embrace.

The irony isn’t lost on me. My office is in my Great Grandma’s old house, I have furniture and supplies from her daughter, and her daughter (my mom), and SO many more. I realize I am stressed about my life right now and that is okay. I have been through burn out and I will get through it again. Support through burnout is CRUCIAL. So much so, that I made a Facebook group for it. Click here to come join me!

With the support and the love from so many, it is manageable. We’ll get through this part too.

Have you used AI for tutoring, writing, or teaching? Let me know! Let’s share all of the fun ideas.
